Terms of Service
The terms that apply when you create an account or use Paeonia.
Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Hjalmar Karlsen, Storgata 61, 0182 Oslo, Norway, who operates Paeonia. They apply when you create an account or use the Paeonia app and related services. By using Paeonia, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be at least 16 years old and legally able to agree to these terms. If the law where you live requires permission from a parent or guardian, you must have that permission. Paeonia is made for couples and is not aimed at children.
Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/) also applies to the app, and these terms add to it. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app or for support.
What Paeonia provides
Paeonia provides a private shared space for two partners, including daily questions, shared memories and photos, drawings, countdowns, optional latest-location sharing, notifications, and related features. Features may depend on device permissions, an internet connection, an active relationship, and subscription access.
Paeonia is not an emergency, safety-monitoring, therapy, or location-tracking service. Do not rely on it to find someone in an emergency or to show their current location.
Your account
You sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for keeping access to that provider account and your device secure, for giving accurate profile information, and for activity under your Paeonia account. Tell us at support@paeonia.no if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission.
You may have only one active relationship space at a time. You may not transfer, sell, share, or use an account to impersonate another person.
Invites and shared access
Pairing is invite-only. One person creates an invite and the other reviews and accepts it. Keep invite codes private and share them only with the person you intend to pair with.
Your active partner can see content and profile details shared through the relationship space, subject to feature-specific reveal rules. Think carefully before adding private material. We cannot control what another person records or shares outside Paeonia after they have lawfully seen it.
Subscriptions and payment
Paeonia has no free version. It works while one partner has an active subscription. One subscription covers both partners, and the partner who joins with an invite code does not pay. Every feature is included. A subscription belongs to the Apple Account and Paeonia account used to buy it. It does not move to an unrelated account or a different relationship on its own.
Paeonia offers monthly and yearly subscriptions, and may offer a free trial to people who have not had one. The price, the length of each period, and the length of any trial are shown on the purchase screen before you confirm. Apple charges your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, or when a free trial ends. The subscription renews automatically for the same period at the price shown in the App Store, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Apple charges the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
You can manage or cancel a subscription in Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions on your iPhone, or from the Subscription section of the Us tab in Paeonia. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the paid period ends. Apple handles refunds, and you can ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Tap Restore purchases on the subscription screen or in the Us tab to bring back a purchase you already made, for example on a new phone.
If neither partner has active access, the shared space is locked until a subscription is restored or bought. Subscription expiry does not by itself end the relationship. Deleting your Paeonia account or the app does not cancel the App Store subscription.
Paeonia may also sell one-time purchases, for example to bring back a streak that ended. A one-time purchase does not renew.
Your content
You keep ownership of content you create. You give Paeonia a limited permission to host, process, copy, display, and transmit that content only as needed to operate, secure, support, and moderate the service, comply with law, and carry out the Privacy Policy.
You must have the right to upload what you add. Do not upload content that violates another person's privacy, copyright, or other rights. Paeonia is not end-to-end encrypted, and trusted systems or authorized personnel may access content for the limited reasons described in the Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
Do not use Paeonia to threaten, harass, stalk, exploit, deceive, or harm another person; share unlawful or non-consensual intimate content; sexualize minors; violate privacy or intellectual-property rights; distribute malware; probe or bypass security; interfere with the service; or use automated access without permission.
Do not pressure another person to pair, share location, answer, or remain in a relationship space. Consent to a relationship or feature can be withdrawn at any time.
Reports, blocks, and moderation
Paeonia is a private space for two people and has no public posts, but these rules apply to everything you add. To report your partner, open the Us tab, then Privacy and safety, and tap Report and leave. Reporting ends the relationship, and you can also choose to block the person. You can also email support@paeonia.no. We review every report and reply within three working days. We may preserve reported material, review it, hide or remove content, restrict accounts or pairing, and take other proportionate steps to protect users and the service.
We do not promise to monitor all private content. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Reports made in bad faith or attempts to misuse safety tools may themselves violate these terms.
Leaving a relationship
Either partner can leave. Leaving closes the shared space for both partners and hides relationship content immediately. The content is then scheduled for deletion under the Privacy Policy. A normal leave does not prevent a later new invite; a block does until the person who blocked removes it.
Re-pairing does not restore the old relationship space or cancel its deletion schedule.
Deleting your account
To delete your account, open the Us tab in Paeonia, scroll to Account, tap Delete account, and confirm. You can also delete it from the subscription screen. If you cannot open the app, email contact@paeonia.no from the address on your account. Deletion is permanent, ends an active relationship, removes or anonymizes your profile, and starts cleanup described in the Privacy Policy. Some limited records may be retained for reports, payments, safety, disputes, or legal obligations.
Cancel any App Store subscription separately in your Apple Account settings.
Service changes and availability
We work to keep Paeonia reliable, but the service may be interrupted, delayed, changed, or unavailable. Sync, notifications, widgets, location updates, and third-party sign-in or payment services are not guaranteed to be immediate or error-free.
We may add, change, or remove features where reasonably necessary. If a material change affects a paid service, we will provide notice where required by law.
Suspension and termination
We may restrict or end access when reasonably necessary to investigate misuse, protect a person or the service, comply with law, or enforce these terms. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and a way to contact support.
You can stop using Paeonia, leave the relationship, or delete your account at any time. Terms that by their nature should continue, including content permissions needed for cleanup, payment records, safety records, disclaimers, and dispute terms, survive termination.
Disclaimers and responsibility
Paeonia is provided with reasonable care, but no online service can be completely secure or continuously available. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss, another user's conduct, or failures caused by your device, network, Apple, Google, or other systems outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer rights or liability for intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Norwegian law, without taking away mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Please contact support@paeonia.no first so we can try to resolve a problem. Disputes may be brought before the courts or consumer-dispute body that has jurisdiction under applicable law.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms as Paeonia changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required. Continuing to use Paeonia after updated terms take effect means the updated terms apply, subject to rights you have under law.
For questions about these terms, email contact@paeonia.no. For product or account help, email support@paeonia.no.
